As far as vitamins go, Vitamin B12 is one of the few vitamins that we need to function properly. It performs 3 important functions, it is required during blood formation and it  ensures our nervous system and our brains function normally.

Vitamin B12 shots are an effective form of delivering the vitamin to our bodies. For quick delivery to the body, vitamin b12 shots are the best method. However, there is no proof to suggest that vitamin b12 shots are more effective than orally taken forms.

Physicians usually recommend monthly vitamin b12 injections for those that are deficient in the vitamin. One of the reasons why injections are the preffered method involves the difficulty in absorbing Vitamin B12 via other methods of delivery. Vitamin b12 injections take care of that problem admirably.

Vitamin B12 shots are usually given to anemic patients. Red blood cell production is severely stunted in anemic patients. The Vitamin B12 shots are injected  intramuscularly, which is, a direct injection into the patients muscles itself. Most physicians still prefer the vitamin b12  shots despite the availability of effective orally taken alternatives.

Vitamin b12 injections are sometimes administered to those suffering from depression or lethargy as this vitamin is known to have  anti-stress properties. Nasal sprays are also available, if the patient is unwilling to take a vitamin b 12 shot.

A Vitamin b12 shot are not for everybody, what is needed is proper medical advice from qualified parties. A visit to your doctor should point you in the right direction. Specifically, side effects should make up most of your questions to  your doctor.
